Big Christmas Cracker Pull 2016 – UPDATE

UPDATE

A BIG THANK YOU to everybody that participated in the Big Christmas Cracker Pull on Saturday.

Unfortunately we did not reach the target of 1,300 to beat the Guinness World Record and get in the record books. We managed just short of 800 people. We hope you all enjoyed yourselves none the less. If you look back at our website towards the end of the week there will be a certificate to download saying that you participated in the event.

Once again, thank you to all that participated and on behalf of Little Chelsea Traders Association we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas !

The Big Christmas Cracker Pull 2016

As part of the Little Christmas In Little Chelsea celebrations, the Little Chelsea Traders Association is attempting to get 1,300 Eastbourne names into the record books.
Assembling at 11am on Saturday 3rd December, participants will create a chain linking arms from Eastbourne Central Library along Grove Road to the Town Hall and down South Street to the Eagle Pub, with Christmas crackers being pulled as the Town Hall strikes its twelfth strike at midday.
The current record is 1,077 simultaneous cracker pullers. Come down and be part of the fun. If the attempt is successfully verified by Guinness World Records, all participants can download a certificate of participation and become an official record holder.
The organisers are looking for 1,300 people, so come down and register at the desk at the stage area by the Town Hall.

Participants and supporters are encouraged to come down on Saturday 3rd December wearing Christmas jumpers and Santa hats to enjoy a cracker of a day in Little Chelsea!

Little Christmas In Little Chelsea 2017

Friday 1 December 4pm-10pm

Little Christmas In Little Chelsea, Eastbourne’s annual Christmas extravaganza, will revert back to one day in its ninth year on Friday 1 December 2017. Little Chelsea Traders Association took the decision after feedback from businesses and street traders who took part over the two day event last year. The fun family event will begin at 4pm on Friday and go on until late, with a host of music, street entertainment, food and drink, late night shopping and market stalls.

More details will be confirmed as we advance with the planning.

Thanks for your support!

What a fantastic night we had at Little Christmas in Little Chelsea on Friday 4 December 2015! Huge thanks to all of those who helped to make this year’s event a triumph – the Little Chelsea Traders Association organising team, the helpers and marshals on the night, Eastbourne UnLtd Chamber of Commerce for the amazing Neon Noel light show, etc. We could not put this event on without the help of the many volunteers who give up their free time, so thank you all for your generous support! Thanks also to the public, who turned out in great numbers to create a fabulous atmosphere, and to the parents and children who queued so patiently to see Santa in his Winter Wonderland Grotto, despite the cold wind that blasted them.

Eastbourne’s annual Christmas extravaganza Little Christmas In Little Chelsea will launch a week of fun and entertainment in the popular town centre shopping quarter this December.

Family event Little Christmas In Little Chelsea will begin in Grove Road and South Street, which will be closed to traffic for the evening, at 4pm on Friday 4 December 2015 and go on until late, with a host of entertainment, food and drink, late night shopping and market stalls.

Santa will be in residence at his Winter Wonderland Grotto in the charmingly Victorian Old Stable Mews in South Street, with its specially lit path, Christmas trees and falling snow. Every child can chat with Santa and receive a special gift for just £5.00. The grotto will be open 4pm-9pm on the night, and then 4.30pm-7pm every day until Sunday 13 December.

There will be real reindeer to feed and pet, kindly sponsored by Domino’s Pizza in Grove Road, as well as a funfair, carol singers, morris dancers, music and street entertainment. Disney princesses Frozen’s Elsa and Anna, and Cinderella and Belle will also join Sovereign FM on the entertainment stage and stay for the Christmas festivities.

Carolyn Lindsey, chair of event organiser Little Chelsea Traders Association, said: “The members of Little Chelsea Traders Association are delighted to be hosting the seventh annual Little Christmas In Little Chelsea event on Friday 4 December. We strive to make every year better than the last and this year is no exception – visitors will find more entertainment, food and shopping than ever before in our shops, cafes, pubs and market stalls.”

As well as songs from the Disney princesses, entertainment on the night will include music on stage from local band Hot Detroit, singalong Christmas carols every hour on the hour hosted by South Street Free Church, displays from morris dancers Hunters Moon, costumed appearances by members of Eastbourne Cosplay, and juggling, stilt-walking and fire-eating from Elemental Circus, as well as children’s workshops in circus skills, such as plate spinning.

Visitors can also see circus artists when Acting Moon perform at the Under Ground Theatre beneath Eastbourne Central Library in Grove Road. The theatre will hold a festive art and craft fair and Christmas karaoke on the night, as well as offering mulled wine and champagne cocktails and the opportunity to make a wooden reindeer to take home.

Carolyn said: “Grove Road and South Street will be alive with lights and music and activities for all. We aim to make Christmas shopping fun, with plenty to see and do for both kids and adults alike. We hope everyone will come along and start their Christmas celebrations with us.”

The switching on of Little Chelsea’s Christmas lights at 4.30pm will be followed by the magical light show Neon Noel, which will be projected onto the Town Hall clock tower to commemorate and tell the story of the seven hundred years of Eastbourne’s market charter, accompanied by carol singing and music from the Salvation Army Band. The light show will be repeated at 4.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm every day until Sunday 13 December 2015.

Grove Road and South Street will be closed between 4.30pm and 7pm on Saturday 5 to Sunday 13 December for Neon Noel, and spectators will also be treated to street entertainment and late night shopping. Each night, the Elf On A Shelf event will give children the opportunity to win prizes, generously donated by Tesco Express in Grove Road, by finding elves on the shelves of Little Chelsea shops and collecting their names.
